Dr. Kreutzer has over 25 years of practice in congenital catheter intervention. Originally from Argentina, she received her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires Medical School, completed training in cardiac pathology at Harvard Medical School-Boston Children's Hospital, pediatrics at the University of Florida Affiliated Hospital and fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the Harvard Medical School-Boston Children's Hospital. She was faculty at Boston Children's Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as part of the interventional cardiology staff, after which she became Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2005. In 2017, Dr. Kreutzer was appointed Division Chief and Co-Director of the Heart Institute. Under her leadership, in close collaboration with CT Surgery, CICU and Cardiac Anesthesia, she has helped move the program forward to rank among the best programs in the country.
Dr. Kreutzer has published extensively on the areas of novel catheter/device technology and clinical applications, animal testing and clinical trials, with special interest in single ventricle heart disease, percutaneous valve therapies and transcatheter management of peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis. She has served as investigator in various novel transcatheter device clinical trials, and has been an active participant in national collaboratives on impactful interventional cardiology outcomes research and quality improvement programs. She has lectured extensively nationally and internationally. Dr Kreutzer has authored over 100 publications, and has a long history of commitment to teaching and mentorship of students, residents, fellows, and colleagues from the US and abroad. She has also served and continues to serve in many academic committees and societies (American Board of Pediatrics Board of Pediatric Cardiology, SCAI, AHA, NCDR®, CCISC, APS, etc.), as well as several editorial positions. In her leadership roles, Dr. Kreutzer has been a passionate advocate for gender equity, promotion of women and recognition of their valuable contributions in the history of the subspecialty.
